Blogs, magazines and stores seasonally make a great attempt at shaping the fashion of the moment. With the designers creating new styles and movements six months in advance certain looks make the cut for upcoming trends.
With my stubborn and somewhat rebellious personality I try to focus my wardrobe on my personal taste  other than trends. However, this point of view is quite naive, since my collection of clothes does change seasonally.
Here I find myself wanting more black and white combinations and all of a sudden I  desperately need fashionable orthopedic sandals. This all thanks to the brainwash of stores, blogs and magazines that showcase these "it" products.
Though I have never considered myself to be shaped by others or pushed by "must haves", I now see clearly that escaping from fashion through style is nearly impossible and certainly not necessary.

  1. Love how you wrote it, because I was as well naive enought o think my style will not be influenced by trends. Eventually I thought the same - it is not necessary. Nothing bad about choosing what you like amongs the trends.. although I do notice how difficult it is (or even impossible) to resist brainwashing.

  3. Ik koop gewoon wat ik leuk vind! Ik heb nog niet echt een 'stijl',
dus ik volg de trends wel altijd...
Maar ik snap wat je bedoelt! ;)

  7. love your take on black and white chic here. and i think it's impossible not to be influenced by your surroundings but its how you filter that influence into your own personal style that makes it all your own.
